Our cleanings are performed using Guided Biofilm Therapy, a technology that offers a more effective way to remove plaque and tartar buildup while minimizing discomfort. GBT uses a targeted air polishing system that safely cleans teeth and gums, helping to prevent gum disease and maintain fresh breath.
Unlike traditional scraping methods, GBT is less abrasive, helping to preserve your tooth enamel and gum tissue. It is suitable for people with sensitive teeth, braces, or implants. With regular cleanings, you can maintain a brighter, healthier smile.
Atraumatic Restorative Treatment (ART)
For select cases of early tooth decay, our dental hygienists may provide atraumatic restorative treatment (ART) as a minimally invasive approach to help manage and stabilize the affected area. ART is performed without the use of rotary instruments or local anesthesia, making it a comfortable option for many patients.
This procedure involves gently removing soft, decayed tooth material using hand instruments, followed by placement of a glass ionomer material. This material adheres to the tooth surface and releases fluoride, which may assist in remineralization and short-term protection of the area.
ART is considered an interim (temporary) measure and does not replace definitive restorative treatment provided by a dentist. Its purpose is to help manage caries progression until appropriate dental care can be completed. Patients receiving ART will be advised to seek follow-up with a dentist, and referrals can be provided as part of collaborative care.
Treatment times may vary depending on the clinical situation.
If you are scheduled for ART, please review and complete the informed consent form prior to your appointment.
ART: Evidence-Based Care
Our approach is supported by extensive research and trusted by professionals worldwide. Below are key studies and sources that highlight the effectiveness and benefits of ART:
- Atraumatic restorative treatment and minimal intervention dentistry
- Contemporary operative caries management consensus recommendations on minimally invasive caries removal
- Survival estimates of atraumatic restorative treatment versus traditional restorative treatment: a systematic review with meta-analyses
- Evaluation of atraumatic restorative treatment restorations and sealants under field conditions
Why Regular Exams & Cleanings Matter
Maintaining your oral health is easier and more effective with regular exams and cleanings. These routine visits help keep your smile healthy, fresh, and problem-free by preventing common issues before they start.
Prevent Cavities & Gum Disease
Plaque builds up on your teeth daily, turning into tartar within 24 hours if not removed. Tartar can only be removed professionally and contributes to cavities and gum inflammation. Routine exams and cleanings can prevent these issues before they start.
Freshen Your Breath
Removing plaque and tartar also helps eliminate bacteria that cause bad breath. Regular visits keep your mouth clean and your breath fresh for social confidence.
Detect Problems Early
Early detection means simpler treatments. During exams, hygienists look for early signs of cavities, gum disease, and other oral health concerns, helping you avoid more extensive procedures later.
Fluoride Treatments
Boost your tooth enamel with fluoride treatments that strengthen teeth and help prevent decay. This quick add-on is available during your cleaning appointment and is recommended for all ages.
Silver Diamine Fluoride Treatment
Silver Diamine Fluoride is a quick, noninvasive treatment that helps stop cavities from progressing and supports remineralization of the treated tooth. It is often used for patients who want a minimally invasive option to protect their teeth.
Dental Sealants
Protect deep grooves in your molars and premolars with dental sealants, a thin, protective coating that blocks bacteria and food particles from causing cavities.
What to Expect During Your Exam
During your visit, we perform detailed screenings, including low-radiation X-rays, to help identify potential concerns such as plaque buildup, early decay, or gum irritation before they develop into more serious problems.
Your exam begins with a personalized discussion about your medical history, current medications, and any oral health concerns. Then, your teeth, gums, and surrounding tissues are carefully examined. We’ll also check your saliva pH, airway, and screen for signs of oral cancer.
Our hygienists also use diagnostic tools to assess your overall oral wellness and determine the best care plan for you. Your oral health is our priority! Contact us to schedule your dental exam and cleaning at Floss Bosses today.

A Smarter Way to Clean
At Floss Bosses, we use Guided Biofilm Therapy to clean your teeth with comfort and precision. This modern approach replaces the old scraping routine with a warm water spray, soft powder, and air to gently remove plaque and tartar.
GBT starts by highlighting areas of biofilm so we can see exactly where to focus. It’s safe for kids, braces, implants, and people with sensitive teeth, and it supports healthy enamel and gums without causing trauma.
Whether you’re maintaining your smile or managing inflammation, GBT helps keep your mouth and body in sync. Discover a new kind of clean.
